From March through November 2008, Congressman Diasnes launched massive medical missions in all the 3 islands in Batanes.  Led by Dr. Joel Diasnes, Dr. Jeffrey Antony Canceran, Dr. Richard Paul Ong, Dr. Samuel Donoso and Dr. Benilda Domingo and assisted by nurses and the Congressional Staff, the team held medical consultations and gave medicines and vitamins.

 

People queued until late evening.  In fact, in Brgy. Valugan in Basco, Dr. Joel Diasnes stayed until the last patient left… which was midnight.

Dedication, commitment and love for the people sustained the team through the gruelling days of the mission.  They withstood the heat and rain, even hunger and fatigue to render medical service.

ABS-CBN interviews Congressman Diasnes at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center  where Jeffrey Bartilad was taken for further treatment. 

 

The Congressman later gave ABS-CBN exclusive right to the footage of the actual rescue operation conducted where Bartilad and 13 others were rescued from the violent sea. .
